Understanding Bipolar Depression

By Sean Davids

The discussion of the condition called bipolar depression may also refer to a condition called manic depression. This is merely one of the many types of depression. A rapid change from being very happy to extremely down is characteristic of individuals who are bipolar. Being sad about a certain event does not make somebody bipolar nor are they manic depressive. This condition is actually much more serious than that.

In the United States alone millions are told by their physicians that they have bipolar and are manic depressive. At any given time seventeen million people are experiencing depression in the United States alone. Two out of three of those who suffer will not consult their health care provider about it. Of course, you can't fix the problem if you do not try to get depression help.

Serious personality changes and mood swings from happy to sad are some of the signs of bipolar depression. Another indication of depression is having difficulty sleeping. If you're experiencing a sense of vulnerability or desperation then you could be undergoing depression. Depression might also be the problem when day to day life becomes a difficult task.

Many Americans are suffering from mental illness which they don't want to think about. The conventional image of a crazy person is just too much for some individuals to bear. If a disease impacts the brain instead of another part of the body, it is frequently a psychologically and emotionally complex situation. There seems to be many feelings of shame associated with a mental health condition. Yet the fact is that you're still the same person, and you have to realize that bipolar depression is an illness and you will need to recover. Do not think that you are crazy. This is something which is entirely treatable. Yet before you can treat depression you must identify it.

Medical professionals today are examining all varieties of depression and its causes. Indeed, depression has many contributing factors. The three key fields to examine are biological, genetic, and environmental. A chemical imbalance in the brain is often the cause. Both rich and poor individuals alike can fall into depression and no ethnic grouping is more or less likely to contract a bipolar disorder.

It is also known that stress is a major component in the onset of depression. Stress comes up each day in life. Work, relationships with those we love, or simply the demands of our jobs can all present difficulties.

But there's help for individuals with bipolar depression and those who suffer with this condition can be optimistic about treatment choices. Various medicines, either prescribed or natural, can offer a cure. Some of the methods of assistance involve support groups and talk therapy. If you believe that you or someone you love is bipolar, it is very important to get help. - 29881
