You Can Overcome Panic Attacks By Taking Small Steps

Panic attacks usually occur suddenly when you don't expect them. During such times, you will be ill-prepared to handle them.

You might be having fun with your friends or doing some other work. All of a sudden, you get a panic attack.

This might cause you to become fearful of engaging in the activity which you were doing at the time of the attack.

However, in most cases, that particular activity or place had little to do with the attack.

So you don't have to avoid those places and situations. You can continue to live life as usual.

It might seem difficult at first, but when you learn not to let panic disorder affect your life, it will lose its power. This problem will then stop haunting you.

Initially, it would be difficult to deal with this problem courageously. So, don't try anything big in order to deal with this problem.

It is better to take mini-steps in the positive direction to overcome panic attacks. For example, if you really fear another panic attack while going shopping, take a friend along who is familiar with your problem.

Keep with you any anti-anxiety pills you might be taking (ofcourse with doctor consultation). This would help you feel a little more comfortable to visit those places where you fear another panic attack.

Don't try to go alone. If you become too brave suddenly, then it can cause more problem for you. Become brave little by little in tackling the problem.

It also helps if you remind yourself constantly that panic attacks are not dangerous. You may feel like having a heart attack, but you are not really having it.

You might not have heard of anybody dying from panic attacks, have you? These attacks only seem to be dangerous - but most of the time in reality, they are not so.

Once you become aware of this fact, you will feel a lot safer. You will know that panic attacks may not cause you any real damage. They will come and pass away within short period of time.

Likewise, take baby steps in the positive direction which help in raising your courage. Everyday, try to move in the positive direction in order to overcome panic attacks.

After some time, you may no longer fear panic attacks. At this point, they may fade away on their own!

Avoid taking pills or medication for this problem, as much as you can. Consult a doctor before taking any pills, and only take them when absolutely necessary.

Natural methods of treatment or behavior therapy are far better alternatives to learn how to overcome panic attacks. They are not likely to cause side effects like medication. - 29881
